HiFormer® Fragrance Additive Masterbatches

Clariant recently announced development of fragrance additives in liquid masterbatch form for use in polyolefin polymers. Marketed under the HiFormer® brand, the liquid masterbatches have been optimized for blown and cast film applications and are being used commercially.

The new liquid system offers many advantages over existing pelletized masterbatches:

• Less additive is needed to achieve alike performance. 1% liquid additive can provide the same fragrance effect as 6% of solid, pelletized masterbatch

• Since liquid masterbatches are compounded without heat, fragrance intensity is upheld. Additives are exposed to heat only during end-product extrusion

• HiFormer color pumps are extremely accurate and consistent. Users have more control over dosing for less waste
