The PS-100-VIDEO from Strainoptics is a laboratory-quality Senarmont polarimeter equipped with a video camera, macro-video zoom lens, and 17" color LCD monitor. Applications include observation and visual measurement of residual stress (birefringence) in small glass or plastic parts, such as medical tubing, catheters, syringes, and implantables. Under polarized light, stress becomes visible as distinctive colors, enabling inspection and diagnosis of potential defects before they cause costly and dangerous field failures. PC output of images from camera are among several useful options. Strainoptics also offers laboratory testing services and training.
