Maag Pump Systems
Available from Maag Automatik, Inc.
For almost 90 years, Maag has been renowned as a supplier of gear pumps of the highest quality that are used today for conveying polymer melts, chemicals and even lubricants. The focus of our activities lies on applications involving high-viscosity media, high temperatures and low inlet and/or high outlet pressures or applications involving corrosive or temperature-sensitive media.
Thanks to its many years of process experience, Maag adapts its pumps perfectly to its customers' requirements, achieving the best possible degree of effectiveness for customer processes, the longest possible service life for the pumps and the shortest downtime possible for customers' systems.
In its simplest form, the gear pump consists of two equally sized meshing gears that rotate in a housing. The process starts in the pump inlet as the gears un-mesh, creating a void that draws the medium into the pump. From there the rotating gears capture the medium in the spaces between the gear teeth and transport it around the housing and over to the discharge side of the pump. As the gears continue to rotate, the teeth again come into contact, and the re-meshing action pushes the medium, out of the gear teeth and out of the pump housing into the discharge line.
