Ruland manufactures rigid couplings in a wide variety of sizes, styles, and materials. They are available in one- and two-piece designs, with and without keyways, in aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Standard sizes are available in straight and step bore combinations to fit shafts ranging from 1/8" to 2" and from 3mm to 50mm . Inch to metric combinations are also available. Each rigid coupling is stamped with the Ruland name and bore sizes for ease of identification.

Straight bore rigid couplings are precision honed to maintain bore concentricity for proper fit and alignment while reducing vibration. Ruland's proprietary black oxide process affects the holding power, the anti-stick-slip characteristic, and helps keep the torque rating of the screw within the desired parameters. Additionally, a proprietary coating, Nypatch, is used on hardware to resist vibration and maintain holding power. Two-piece couplings are balanced with an opposing screw design allowing for reduced vibrations at higher speeds.

Ruland was established in 1937 and for the past 40 years has focused on designing and manufacturing high performing shaft collars and couplings. All metallic Ruland products are made in its Marlborough Massachusetts factory under strict controls using proprietary processes. The complete line of products includes shaft collars and rigid couplings, and a full line of zero backlash motion control couplings: beam, bellows, oldham, disc and curved jaw.
